Andrée-Anne Laberge

Gallery : Le Luxart

Birth: The artist grew up in Victoriaville.

Training: In 2004, Laberge graduated with honours from Concordia University in Visual Arts. During the course of her education, she was particularly drawn to subject matter relating to ancient artistic techniques. Therein, she discovered encaustic painting which, to this day, remains her preferred method of self expression.
Also of note, Laberge holds a BA in arts education which affords her the opportunity to share her passion with youth.

Medium: Encaustic (beeswax, resin, and pigments).

Artistic approach : Working with beeswax, dammar (a naturally occurring resin), and pigments, Laberge is employing an age old medium which distinguishes her from her contemporaries. While encaustic painting is inherently complex, the rewards are evident in the unique textures and hues apparent in her work. Collectively, the artist’s paintings evoke a colourful world of panoramic landscapes and atmospheric perspectives situated at the edge of abstraction.

Exhibitions: Actively engaged in the Québec art scene, Laberge has participated in numerous exhibitions, symposiums, and live events throughout the province.

Collections: Private collections throughout North America and Europe.

Awards: Recipient of several awards including, but not limited to, the "Coup de Coeur du Jury" award for her project entitled "Du Souvenir au Paysage" at GalArt in 2015.
