Birth : Born in La Sarre, Abitibi in 1946.

Training : Michel Mecteau evidenced an interest in visual arts early in life. By the time he enrolled in the architecture program at Cégep in Trois-Rivières, he had already mastered working with watercolour, oil, acrylic, and pastel. Shortly thereafter, the artist caught his big break: he began collaborating as a cartoonist for a well known Trois-Rivières daily paper. With the increasingly popular reception of his work, local businesses began displaying his work; thus expanding his reputation in the local art scene.
Now dedicated to painting, Mecteau’s current artistic production is focused upon the depiction of picturesque Québecois villages. His rugged mountains, majestic rivers, and uplifting palettes make for stunning works which are sure to delight viewers.

Medium : Oil.

Exhibitions : In 1997, the artist participated in a painting symposium held in the Saguenay region. In 1999, he participated in a second painting symposium in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Collections : Private and corporate in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Awards : 1st Prize at the Painting Symposium of Sainte-Rose-de-Laval in 2002.
