Fournier’s painted works are principally oriented towards capturing the essence and vitality of her subjects. This she achieves through the meticulous detailing of the eyes in each piece. Traditionally, the eyes have been viewed as a reflection of one’s soul and she has very much adapted this philosophy into her painted works.
Maryna Fournier evidenced a passion for drawing at a young age. While this was later nurtured and developed over the course of her schooling, she became skeptical about its career potential following her graduation. As such, in 2011 she reached a compromise by opening up her own decorative cake shop. This allowed her to express herself artistically while affording her a more stable career.
With the later success of her business, she decided to rediscover her enthusiasm for the visual arts. Gradually, she began working with the oil medium and therein developed her signature technique of colour grading. In her current body of work, she has succeeded in replicating this effect through her unique combination of acrylic paint and airbrushing.
