For Vigo, flowers are what life puts in your path. Hers are works in which everyday emotions are transformed into positive energy and thereby transferred to the viewer. This creates the effect of a symbiosis which serves to enrich one’s interaction with her pieces.
While her pearlescent paintings are replete with colour and vitality, the epoxy effect in the background of her pieces also recalls the temporal nature of life; thus reminding us to make the most of each moment. The artist has been quoted as saying, "The art that smiles on you is good for your soul."
Having attended the Collège de Rosemont and Cégep régional de Lanaudière in l'Assomption, Vigo possesses a background in human sciences as well as the visual arts. She also graduated in the special education program at the Université de Montréal and later developed her artistic technique at the Collège Marsan.
Geneviève Gauthier (Vigo) was born in Montréal in 1979.
The artist’s work can be found in private collections across Canada and the United States.
